Face Oils

When it comes to skincare, I love a good face oil. Like, LOVEEEE. On some days, it’s all my skin needs (and when paired with an acid, it’s a match made in heaven)! Even on days when I get a blemish, dabbing some face oil on it does way more than most other things, especially when it’s a product that dries it out. It took me over a decade to learn that, but better late than never. To top it off, I can honestly say that ever since I incorporated oils into my routine, even through the harshest of winters, my skin has stayed moisturized. For those of you who are still afraid of face oils, even if you have oily skin, please don’t be! A good oil will balance at your skin and keep it calm, nourished and happy. Trust me!

I’ve tried a ton of oils, but here are my favorites:

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate: I made my first foray into face oils with this one and it still remains one of my favorites. Being a self admitted oil junkie that I am, I like to alternate the products that I use and this one is always in my nighttime routine. I know some oils come with a heftier price tag, so if you’re hesitant to spend the money on some of the others I’ve mentioned, this is a great one to start with since it doesn’t break the bank.

Sunday Riley Juno: I’ve recently spoken about my love for Juno here, but to reiterate, this is one of the most luxurious oils that I’ve used. It nourishes the skin with antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids and omegas. It feels thick at first but sinks in beautifully, making my skin looking healthy and hydrated. With this particular oil, I prefer to use it at night, usually after Biologique P50 or another one of my exfoliating acids and then under a moisturizer. My only con, it’s pricey ($90), but I find this oil lasts longer than some of my others and a little goes a long way since it’s on the thicker side. Bonus points for the beautiful bottle that always looks so pretty sitting in my cabinet.

NUDE Progenius Rescue Oil: I started using a few products from NUDE about two months ago and was impressed after a week, but wanted to ensure I gave it enough time before forming a real opinion. Their oil, one rich in Omega 3, 6, 7 and 9, is currently my favorite one to use during the day. Don’t get me wrong, all of the oils I’m mentioning are great for either day or night, but it’s just a matter of personal preference. This oil is a bit thinner, making it wear beautifully under moisturizer and makeup.

Darphin Orange Blossom Aromatic Care: Last, but certainly not least, this ultra luxe one from Darphin. I first found out about this oil when Keiko, another skincare junkie, text messaged me raving about this. I immediately knew it was a major one since she’s not one to easily give a product praise, especially when it concerns the skin. Aside from being incredibly moisturizing, the Orange Blossom’s job is to help even out skin affected by hyper pigmentation and prevent future brown spots from developing. The oil is light and absorbs beautifully! I use this one both day and night.

Are you guys into oils? If so, what are your favorites? I know some people are very into mixing their own, but I have yet to try that. Let me know if that’s something any of you have experimented with and whether you had the same success as with ones you’ve purchased.
