This legendary actor was born on July 9, 1956 in Concord, California. In his childhood Hanks was a shy and spaz boy and about whom nobody had any idea , even his parents, that one day he would be one of the biggest stars from the largest film industry of the world.

With a vision of becoming the most flamboyant star , Tom Hanks started his learning of performing art and theater initially from the Chabot College in Hayward, California, and after two years, he moved to California State University, Sacramento. During his studies , Tom Hanks also started his internship and he learned theater production, lighting, set design, and stage management. Today Thomas Jeffery Tom Hanks is worldly known as an actor, producer, writer and director.

The professional career of Tom Hanks was started in 1978 from his performance in The Taming of the Shrew and he also received a Cleveland Critics Circle Award for Best Actor for his tremendous performance of Proteus in The Two Gentlemen of Verona. During this Tom Hanks was fallen in love with Samantha Lewes who was a famous actress of that times and with whom he got married later. In the early 80’s , Tom Hanks remained busy in numerous Shakespeare productions but his film career started ultimately, when he managed to get a small role in the low-budget horror movie, He Knows You’re Alone. Same year he also performed in the television movie Mazes and Monsters.Tom Hanks got the actual exposure when he got a leading role in a sitcom, Bosom Buddies. This one proved to be a best humorous show that was telecast on ABC for three years. But if we say , Tom got his major breakthrough from the romantic comedy “ Splash “, it would not be wrong. This movie was a real success and Tom became the favorite for his charismatic performance. After this a series of hit movies was started such as The Money Pit (1986), produced by Steven Spielberg, in a romantic drama set during World War II, Every Time We Say Goodbye (1986), and in Dragnet (1987), a parody movie version of the TV series. In 1986, Tom Hanks performed in Garry Marshall’s Nothing in Common that made him more famous.

The actual prime time of the fame of Tom Hanks starts after the releases of “Philadelphia” in 1993 and “ Forrest Gump” in 1994. Tom Hanks won the 1993 Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as a gay lawyer in Philadelphia and on the very next yeat Tom Hanks won his second Best Actor Academy Award for his role in Forrest Gump. This way he became only the second actor to have achieve the consecutive Best Actor Oscars. Similarly Saving Private Ryan in 1998 and Cast Away on 2000 were also the blockbusters on his credit. In all this period, Hanks proved himself in all the spheres of performing art like an actor, producer , director and actor. There is a long list of the unforgettable performances of this acting legend. We would like to mention for his incredible accomplishment in The Terminal of 2004 and unbelievable execution of the role of Professor Robert Langdon in 2006 film adaptation of The Da Vinci Code.
