Belly Dance

Watching a Belly dance live is a thrilling experience; the costumes, music, lights and the dance itself combine to cast a memorable impression.

Belly dance is usually refers to traditional dances of the Middle East and is performed in many different forms. The popular belly dance or the modern belly dance that we see today is a form of old Ghawazi dance of Egyptian origin. It has absorbed many Arabian traditions and merged them with popular music and dance techniques.

Generally speaking, belly dance is the movement of the segregated muscles of the body. Although the movement of abdominal part of the body is of key character in belly dance but the isolated movement of legs and arms is also an integral part of this unique dancing. It is usually performed barefooted and in such a gratifying pattern that the movements of body parts give a thrilling impact. Expert belly dancers are able to develop a connection between physical movements and facial expressions.

Apart from the dance itself, other factors such as costume and lights are  important parts of belly dance. Belly dancers use glamorous scarves, veils, garments and other accessories like finger cymbals and exotic jewelry. Sound effects are enhanced with the use of swords, large vessels and drums of different sizes. The overall environment in belly dance is dominated with various visual effects like candles, flames, candelabras etc. The music, costume and form of dance varies in different countries and cultures.

However for a visitor to the Arabian countries, watching the enticing belly dance in a traditional way is always a remarkable experience.
