Brother lauds Air Force officer killed in Afghanistan

The Taliban, which claimed responsibility for the strike, remains resilient 14 years after the start of USA military engagement in Afghanistan.

According to ABC 7 News, Vorderbruggen was from the Bay Area in California and was married to Heather Lamb.

Bonacasa had enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2002 and transitioned to the New York Air National Guard’s 106th Security Forces Squadron based out of Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base in Westhampton Beach in 2008 before joining the 105th Base Defense Squadron five years ago.

“She inspired us all I think by just being herself, and being proud to be who she was”, her older brother Christopher Vorderbruggen told CBS News.

Adrianna Vorderbruggen was one of the six troops killed in Afghanistan earlier this week. Taub’s family runs Bub and Pops sandwich shop in Washington, D.C., a lunch favorite of ABC News staffers. Vorderbruggen, 36, leaves behind her wife and young son, Jacob.

Lemm, 45, was a 15-year member of the New York Police Department, was a resident of West Harrison.

“Whatever goal she had, she found a way”, her father Joseph Vorderbruggen said.

Staff Sgt. Peter Taub grew up in Wyncote and graduated from Cheltenham High School.

He was deployed to in Afghanistan from January to June 2013 and to Iraq from June to December 2011.

She was a member of the Military Partners and Families Coalition, an advocacy group for LGBT military members.

The British and American government are once again putting boots on the ground in Afghanistan’s notorious Helmand province as the Afghan army struggles to contain a resurgent Taliban.
