When Naomi Campbell makes an appearance on the runway, you know it’s bound to be a good time. Such was the case at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Haute Couture show in Paris. The man responsible for a million sexy red carpet moments is at it again, this time taking the city of lights by storm. The designer is a fan favorite among Hollywood’s most daring starlets for more reasons than one. Envelope-pushing silhouettes adorned in edgy accents have become a tell-tale sign of the designer’s aesthetic, with some of history’s fiercest ensembles created from the mind of Gaultier. The designer showcased a host of hot looks at Haute Couture, leaving many yearning for the days of JPG ready-to-wear.
Feminine masculinity was the name of the game at JPG, bringing a cool but oh-so-glamorous vibe that’s hard to resist, couture or not. A master of the art of seduction, Gaultier is never one to shy away from the provocative. One particular yellow snakeskin vest (dress) gave us heart palpitations, as did the many cleavage-baring silhouettes that carried with them an irresistible sex appeal not easily replicated on the runway.
One thing we’ve always adored about JPG is his insane inability to be predictable. A black-and-white tuxedo/halter dress was the split personality of garments, leaving us both perplexed and inspired.
A Gaultier show is never without a cutting edge. One model, dressed in camouflage and flowers made a delightful statement we can’t quite pinpoint, but it was gorgeous none the less.
