Fashion month will soon come to a close and while we’re prepping ourselves for the impending sadness, we Brands don’t get a whole lot more Parisian than Dior. For decades, the House of Dior has served up a slew of high-fashion garments to the masses, utilizing feminine silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and carefully placed embellishments to forge an impact. The label’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection was everything we’d expect from the fashion house. A steady color palette of neutrals mixed in with bold bursts of bright color make for a stunning compilation of clothing.
In a move reminiscent of spring 2013, Dior sent an abundance of black and white garments down the runway, the white as crisp as snow. Aside from a few monochromatic ensembles, separates covered in whimsical prints are perfectly befitting of spring. A series of leather trench coats made a dramatic statement and created a new must-have item for fashionistas to dream of until spring. Pretty pastel separates make for prime mixing-and-matching, as so the stunning garments in bold pops of color like fuchsia. A further testament to the up and coming long vest, the pink piece was among our absolute favorites from the entire show. Gorgeous embroidery atop jackets and dresses were as prim and proper as they were pretty, with these statement makers perfectly introducing a steady stream of more white.
While we do adore neutrals, we grew tired of the look on the runway. Spring is all about fun and there’s just nothing exciting about head-to-toe white when done in silhouettes and textures that lack edge. We’d be disappointed with Dior’s show if it weren’t for the effective burst of pinks and yellows that give us hope for a fierce and fashionable spring. We’ll be pairing these bright shades with neutrals like beige (not white), and black to anchor them, allowing them to make their statement.
