Police find bodies in hunt for missing ‘EastEnders’ actress

A teenage daughter of the man wanted for questioning over the murders of ex-EastEnders star Sian Blake and her children says she can not believe he killed her brothers.

Blake, who went missing before Christmas with her two sons, eight-year-old Zachary and four-year-old Amon, was in a relationship with Arthur Simpson-Kent, who disappeared a day after police spoke to him about his missing family.

On Tuesday three decomposing bodies were found in the garden of the former actresses home in Erith, southeast London, as police again called for any information which could help trace Ms Blake’s partner after he was last seen on December 16.

Neighbours claimed Ms Blake had been taken to hospital several times before her disappearance but had been looking forward to spending Christmas with her boys on their own. None were willing to comment. The police are coming to visit the family today.

“An initial review has highlighted some potential issues regarding the handling and grading of the missing persons investigation”, the Met said in a statement.

Ms Blake, who was terminally ill with motor neurone disease, and the two boys were last seen visiting relatives in Leyton on December 13.

The Metropolitan Police said it has now voluntarily referred their search for Miss Blake, 43, and her two sons to the Independent PoliceComplaints Commission. I wish I had been a better neighbour.

Sadly, as part of a thorough forensic search we are carrying out at the family’s home in Erith, we recovered three bodies from the garden of the property.

A 30-year-old neighbour, who did not give her name, said: “She was a lovely, caring lady”.

He said: “Our efforts are [in] continuing to find Arthur Simpson-Kent”.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on 020 8721 4805 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

She is played the character of Frankie Pierre in the BBC soap opera from 1996-1997.

The actor had previously appeared on The Bill, Casualty, Doctors and Skins, and was the voice of Yugiri in 2015 video game Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. “She was very frail”, the neighbour said.

“It is the same every year, but while in the past any pressing need could have overtime thrown at it, officers and technicians called in and the job got done, the financial situation now is very different”.

The Metropolitan Police is facing questions over why it took so long for murder detectives to become involved in the case.

Friday, December 18 – Police force their way into the Erith bungalow over reports of concern for Mr Simpson-Kent. He told them his wife and children were missing.

Their bodies were found on January 5, 2016, 2 days after Sian’s silver Renault Scenic vehicle was found dumped in Bethnal Green.

Post-mortem examinations will be carried out on Wednesday and the bodies will then be formally identified.
