Israeli military demolishes, seals off attackers’ homes

At least 145 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of the wave of violence. The only surviving member from the family of Palestinians was 4-year-old Ahmad.

The attack was condemned across the Israeli political spectrum, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged “zero tolerance” in the fight to bring the assailants to justice.

Jewish extremists have for years vandalised or set fire to Palestinian property, as well as mosques, churches, the offices of dovish Israeli groups and even Israeli military bases.

In the high-profile arson killings in the West Bank two people were charged. A lawyer for one of the suspects says his client gave a forced confession after interrogators deprived him of sleep and tied him upside down by his feet.

The Jerusalem Post quoted police sources who said that the Palestinian approached a bus stop in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood, then lunged at a bystander with his knife.

“The investigation was of national importance and came to an end with the filing of indictments”, the police said.

The court lifted an official gag order that had been imposed on the case for the last month but said the name of the minor, who holds U.S. citizenship, was still off limits. Since the arson attack, he and his wife, who also was a settlement outpost activist, moved to Jerusalem, where they had a baby and became haredi Orthodox.

Palestinian attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers during the past three and a half months have killed 21 Israelis, mostly in stabbings, shootings and car-ramming attacks.

The Israeli military has transferred 23 bodies of Palestinians it says were involved in violence to their families in the West Bank, out of which 17 were from Hebron alone.

Three months into a wave of violence some have likened to a new uprising, the Palestinian Authority has found itself adrift and increasingly out of touch with frustrated youths behind the unrest, analysts say. That figure does not include the two Israelis killed Friday by an Arab man in a shooting attack on a Tel Aviv restaurant, as the motive for the attack hasn’t officially been determined.

The targeted homes belonged to two men, both shot dead by security forces on October 13 after carrying out deadly attacks that left four Israelis dead.

“It is now clear that these acts were perpetrated by a fringe group of anarchists bent on destroying the state of Israel and the freedom and justice that it represents”, it said in a statement.

After five long months awaiting an indictment, Israeli prosecutors indicted on Sunday, two Jewish terrorists responsible for the arson attack on a Palestinian home on July 31, 2015. Later in the day, a soldier was shot in the leg at a highway junction in the Hebron Hills area.
