Suspect Arrested For New Year’s Shooting Death Of UNT Student

A suspect in the shooting death of a University of North Texas student last week was arrested Tuesday morning, Denton police said.

In a press conference Tuesday, Denton, Texas police said Johnson is now being held on a murder warrant in Arizona. Police were told Mutschlechner was behind the wheel because she was the designated driver and had not been drinking.

“Police say, an SUV pulled up to the student’s auto at an intersection, words were exchanged between people in that SUV and people in Sara’s vehicle”.

She was struck in the head, and the auto hit another vehicle before crashing.

In the meantime, police are on the lookout for “five or six black males” who may be connected to the shooting, as well as the SUV they were in. Mutschlechner was rushed to Denton Regional Medical Center in critical condition and was placed on life support, but was later taken off of it and pronounced dead. She died the evening of January 1, Kizer said.

“Sara was a attractive person inside and out, and this world is less bright without her”, her sorority said on Facebook.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Mutschlechner had just left a party with her friends that night, who later reported that Sara had been acting responsibly during the night’s festivities.

“We’re all going to miss her”, Clay added.

“It’s my understanding that they saw them, at least two occupants of the suspects’ vehicle at the party earlier, but it’s my understanding also that they did not know each other”, said police officer Shane Kizer.

In an interview with Fox 4, the parents of Mutschlechner said their daughter – a junior at the University of North Texas – had dreamed of being a film director or producer and that being an organ donor was a cause close to her heart.

Growing up I was entranced by the beauty of cinema and as an avid movie-goer I one day decided that this – this attractive thing I so enjoyed watching – was what I wanted to dedicate my life to.
