Trevone Boykin may be suspended for the Alamo Bowl, but Royce Freeman isn’t.

Wide receiver Jaelan Austin catches the first of TCU’s four second-half touchdowns as the Horned Frogs rallied for a 47-41 victory over OR in triple overtime..

The 6-2, 205-pound Kohlhausen played in seven games this season, going 27 of 43 for 369 yards and three TDs with one interception.

TCU strikes back after being down as much as 31 points at halftime to pull out one of the greatest comebacks in bowl game history…

After it was over, Kohlhausen talked stadium security into letting his mother join the celebration on the field. The person not there was his father, Bill, who died November 7 of cancer. “I told him, ‘I’m playing'”. “More importantly, I think it comes down to when you watch your kids on the field”. Honestly, I dedicate it to Trevone.

Boykin was arrested early Thursday and charged with felony assault of a police officer after the one-time Heisman Trophy contender slipped out of his team hotel past curfew, was allegedly heckled at a bar and ended up being subdued by authorities who said they had to threaten the quarterback with a Taser.

TCU is used to slow offensive starts in bowl games under Patterson.

The Oregon defense got little help from its offense, which ran 18 plays for 18 yards in the third and fourth quarters.

Adams’ head snapped violently back on the hit. Without him, they could be dismal.

Vernon Adams Jr. left the game after a helmet-to-helmet collision in the second quarter and did not return. Adams knocked heads with TCU linebacker Derrick Kindred, left the game and never returned.

TCU got blanked in the first half, trailing OR, 31-0. Oberkrom forced overtime with a 22-yarder with 19 seconds to play. The ensuing two-point conversion, a nifty double-pass from Kohlhausen to tailback Shaun Nixon then to Buck Jones in the end zone, pushed the Frogs within three points. “Their quarterback out, get a couple scores, nobody had any doubt”. We’re here to play Oregon.

The Nittany Lions (7-6) played more than half the game without star quarterback Christian Hackenberg, who left in the second quarter with a right shoulder injury.

The last time TCU was held without a touchdown in the first quarter was November 30, 2013, when TCU was held to just a field goal in a 41-30 Baylor win in Fort Worth. TCU won the game 28-21 in overtime.

OR defensive end DeForest Buckner said his teammates try avoiding potentially heated situations when out in public. They were in much of the same situation that Michigan State was in on New Year’s Eve.

The teams combined for 1,196 yards of offense and the 950 yards passing was the most in the Cactus Bowl’s 27-year history. In the less exciting of the bowl games, Georgia had no problems handling Penn State while Arkansas, with Alex Collins, ran all over Kansas State in the Liberty Bowl. The last six games saw them give up some points, but the Ducks were able to get off the field when needed.

This year’s sell-out crowd was the fourth in the last five years, according to bowl officials.

Preseason No. 7 OR began the season an inconsistent 3-3 including a 62-20 loss to then-No.
