Singer Natalie Cole dead at 65

Her album, “Unforgettable… With Love”, won the Grammy for Album of the Year and has sold more than seven million copies in the United States. May her soul rest in peace.

The virtual duet with her late father on his earlier hit “Unforgettable” garnered three Grammy Awards, part of the nine total Grammys Cole had won over the course of her career.

In 1993, Cole released an jazz album, “Take a Look“, and the next year, a holiday album entitled “Holly & Ivy”. “Though near or far”.

During the recording of the LP, Cole said in an Associated Press interview, that she had to “throw out every R&B lick that I had ever learned and every pop trick I had ever learned. Lovely song bird (and great actress too) – she is now singing in heaven”.

For Cole, the duet was a way to recconect with her father after years of trying to get away from him as an artist.

“Her sumptuous, buttery, vocals are the kind of rare treasure that needs only the twinkling of a piano, the snapping of fingers, and the thump-thump-thump of a stand-up bass”. Their house, in Los Angeles’ upscale Hancock Park neighborhood, was a regular spot for her parents’ colleagues.

American talk show host Andy Cohen followed: “Losing Natalie Cole is a sad start to a new year”. He introduced his children to performers including Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra, known to the kids as Auntie Ella and Uncle Frank.

Many stars have poured condolences for the passing of Nat King Cole’s daughter.

Just like her father’s legacy, Foster says Cole’s music will live on for generations to come. She also had a liver transplant due to liver disease. She has become an extraordinary singer in her own right.

‘We will miss her like insane.’ – Rosie O’Donnell. Her publicist, Maureen O’Conner said Cole passed away from congestive heart failure, according to CBS Local. After the success of “Inseparable“, she collected a Grammy in 1976 for the song “Sophisticated Lady (She’s A Different Lady)”. The intravenous use of the drug and sharing needles may have been the cause of her contracting Hep. C.

“I will miss her”, she added.

Though Cole’s musical career was taking off, she was battling drug addiction. While undergoing rehabilitation, she said that she confronted her grief over the loss of her father. Rest in everlasting love. “When we presented Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga this past summer it was the closest thing I know to Natalie singing with her dad in those fantastic recordings”. In it, she detailed how the love of someone who had remained anonymous had given her a kidney, a gift of love that had given her life back when she was on the brink of death.

Natalie is survived by her son Robert Yancy.

All along, she was moved by and sometimes torn between past and present sounds. It resulted in a lot of club bookings but also led to embarrassing moments like the night one club marquee read, “Appearing tonight: The daughter of Nat King Cole”.

“That was really my thank you”, she told People magazine in 2006.
