Lakeisha Holloway, the woman accused of driving her Oldsmobile onto a busy sidewalk Sunday, killing one and injuring dozens of others, made her first appearance in court Wednesday.

Documents filed Tuesday list the charges against 24-year-old Lakeisha Nicole Holloway, who is due in court Wednesday.

Deputy Public Defender Joseph Abood said Tuesday that Lakeisha Nicole Holloway hasn’t had a psychiatric evaluation and he hasn’t seen police reports yet about Sunday’s crash.

Holloway is distraught, her attorneys say.

“This is sad and tragic for everybody involved”, he said, adding, “Just because she’s charged, doesn’t mean she’s guilty”.

In the meantime, she will be held without bail until her next hearing on January 20.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson says additional charges are likely, depending on results of drug and alcohol tests and the police investigation. They could include multiple counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

Wolfson characterized the quality of surveillance video that captured the crash as “superb”. Holloway had been in Las Vegas for about one week before the crash and was living in a vehicle, officials said Monday. However, Mr. Abood has told me due to the complexity of the case that you’re willing to waive that 15 day period and instead set this for a 30-day status check and then we’ll set the preliminary hearing.

Left unanswered was what led a former award-profitable highschool graduate to mow down vacationers and put her 3-yr-previous daughter in hazard, in response to authorities. She nodded her head when asked if she understood the charges against her. “This is a surprise to everyone. We have plenty of investigating and a whole lot of work to do”.

The crash killed Jessica Valenzuela, 32, of Buckeye, Ariz., and injured at least 35 people.

Holloway has been detained without bond since her arrest shortly after the incident near the Planet Hollywood site where the Miss Universe beauty pageant was being staged. The lawyer stated Holloway’s psychological well being might develop into a problem however that she had not had a psychological analysis.

Holloway was also charged with child abuse, neglect or endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.

Holloway, who legally changed her name to Paris Paradise Morton in October, had turned her life around after a troubled childhood, according to a 2012 video by the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center, which helps at-risk youth with education and career training.

Authorities have said her motive remained unclear, but that videos show she intentionally drove into people.

“Today I’m not the identical scared woman I was”, Holloway stated in the video. “I’m a mature young woman”.

Sachet said she joined the agency in 2009 and took a four-month break in late 2010.

Holloway had been in Las Vegas for a few week, police stated.

According to her arrest report, Holloway told detectives that she was stressed and exhausted after being kicked out of several parking garages at Strip properties while trying to get some sleep in her auto.

She may need been on her method to Texas to seek out the woman’s estranged father, authorities stated. “It doesn’t answer the surrounding questions”.
